Building the graphics arts community
In 2001 the IPP Group, which at the time consisted of the monthly trade magazine Indian Printer and Publisher and the IPP Conferences, created a new organization based on youth. IPPStar right from the start was based in Noida, across the river from New Delhi. The full name of the company was IPP Services, Training and Research Private Limited and it had many lofty aims for creating a new industry supported institution for the printing, publishing, and packaging segments. IPPStar was largely seen a partial answer or at the least an instigation to a large fragmented industry that has not been able to create anything like a Fogra, or a GATF, or a Nasscom so far.
The aim of IPPStar was and still remains to create and nature those activities that every industry normally does for its larger aims and which go beyond what can be done by small and medium companies for themselves. These include industry and business research, technology up gradation and training needs, and when appropriate collective lobbying of the government on issues such as customs duties or energy issues. |
