Flexography and Packaging course held at ippStar

IppStar held its first professional level training course on Flexography
and Packaging on May 10 and 11, 2002 at its Noida centre. The course faculty
included S Chidambar , IppStar, Suhas Kulkarni, E.I. Dupont India Ltd,
Gourav Roy, Flexo (India) Graphics Pvt Ltd, Rakesh Shah, Windmoller &
Holscher India Ltd, Mr Chirag Muni, India Lamicoat Inc and Sudhir Pande
of Hindustan Inks and Resins.
Four professionals from the industry who attended the full course were Mr Rajiv Bhargava, HBD Packaging, Mr Sandeep Bhargava, Kumar Printers, Mr M Shankar, International Print-O-Pac and Mr C.A.S Chidambaram, ITC Badrachalam.

Day one had Mr Chidambar, Mr Shah and Mr Muni delivering lectures and interactive presentations. Some of the topics covered intensely were flexography workflow, types of flexo presses, market directions, trends and requirements, the future of flexography, substrates, wide web flexo, ancillaries and sub-systems and printing operations. Web handling, inline downstream processing, quality control, inline integration of cutting, creasing, stamping, and tooling.
On the second day, Mr Roy had the first in-depth session on narrow web flexo printing and folding cartons. Mr Pande and Mr Kulkarni closed the classroom sessions with flexo inks issues, repro and prepress, digitalisations of prepress, and proofing. Mr Kulkarni also demonstrated press fingerprinting using the Cyfos software in his laptop and the spectrohotometer that he carries around.along with colour charts and other tools. All the faculty members demonstrated various samples and tools helpful in quality of print and dies and die cutting. At the end of the second day, both the faculty and the trainees made a plant visit to Self Seeker Packaging Limited located in Sector 4, Noida where they saw a central impression cylinder press.
